IN

How precious is your unfailing love O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. (Psalm 36:7 NLT)

In is such a small word, but it makes such a big difference in so many areas, because things are always different on the inside. We go in, to get out of the weather. We go in to a place of business to get the things we need. Depending on the place we go, we act differently once we are in. There are certain things that we understand about being in another person’s home. There are different rules in the White House, or in the air port, or in the courthouse, and etc. I think you get the picture when it comes to being in or being out.

Jesus said things like, “In my Father’s house,” and scripture speaks of being in Christ, and dwelling in the secret place of the most High, and being in His presence. We also know that Christ in us is our hope of glory, but to be in Christ is to be in the glory. We all know about the idea of being in the right place at the right time.

I have been dwelling a lot on the importance of being in Christ. Having Christ in me is an awesome start, but it is in being in Christ that I am transformed and all things become new. Just as it is my choice to invite Christ into my life, it is also my choice to enter in to the life that is in Christ Jesus. I must present myself at His door and enter in.

We all know that we can have Christ in us and not change all that much. I know some like to say that if He really is in a person then that person is changed, but we all know better! Let’s be honest, we can ignore the leading and the ways of God even with Him dwelling in us. On the other hand, when we are in Him, focusing on Him, and seeking Him, we do a lot better job of staying on task.

Think about this. Do you act the same way in Church as you do outside of Church? We should, but the truth is not everyone does. This is why you often find people complaining about church folks being hypocrites when we act all holy in Church but they see us outside of church acting a whole different way. You see most people know how we should act in church. That is why it is important to be in Christ everywhere!

So here is the deal; receiving Christ is the start not the end. We cannot expect Him to drag us in to the place He has for us. He offers us the opportunity to be in Him. We are blessed because we have received this invitation. Believing in Christ has opened our eyes to see that there is a door wide open through which we can enter in to the Kingdom of God. We can go in and flow in His ways. We can go in and leave behind our ways in favor of His ways.

We can no longer stand outside and wait for Him to drag us in. Israel stood outside the Promised Land and refused to go in. Even though they could see a lot of good, they chose to focus more on the fact that it might not be easy. The truth was that it would have been a lot easier than wandering around outside for another forty years. Don’t hesitate. Run in.
