IS GOD GOOD

And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven. (Matthew 16:19 NLT)

And be thankful. These words have been running through my head. “Always be thankful!” What if there does not seem to be anything to be thankful for? That is the catch, unless of course we know that God is good. Hence the question; “Is God good?

Is God sufficient?

Is God Dependable?

Is God faithful?

Is God enough?

The list of questions could go on and on. Our answer is our answer. Each of us must answer for ourselves. The truth is that God is more than enough. Truly God is. Still, we each must answer with our own answer.

We can say, God is good and quickly follow with, all the time, God is good. But what is being released from the inside? Do we bind the goodness in heaven from time to time? We have the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Is it possible that we place a barrier between us and what we really want with our own words and thoughts?

There are so many things that arise in our lives that try to rob us of what we know is true. There are so many things that are not good that as they pile up, we can find ourselves wondering why God does not do something! Then someone raises the question as to why a good God would let this go on? When we try to answer that or feel like we have to be able to answer that kind of question we can be subject to wondering ourselves. This is a good place to just bind that doubt with an honest answer. “I don’t know. But I do know God is good!” In that simple answer, we have bound the bad and released the good. Yes, God is good!

God truly is more than sufficient. He has promised to supply all of our needs out of His personal supply. We can trust Him. Stand on that trust. Wait patiently on the Lord. We want people to wait patiently for us, don’t we?

Is God dependable? Would our answer be, “well that depends?” God is always dependable but sometimes we begin to wonder why He is not proving right now. Those times are good times to practice fighting that good fight of faith. Hold on to His goodness. Hold on to His promises. Let go of your doubts. Cast them away. Don’t just set them aside. Throw them as hard as you can.

And be thankful. God loves the fruit of our lips giving thanks. It is so much more rewarding to be thankful than it is to be doubtful. Thankfulness binds up our fears and cares and releases the peace of God that passes understanding. Yes, God is faithful, and He is more than enough!
