IS GOD MAD

Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 24:34)

He we are on Palm Sunday with a good portion of the world shut down. Jesus it still Lord! People are afraid and worried and looking to blame other people; and Jesus is still Lord! Hosanna in the Highest to the King of Kings. Yes! Jesus is still Lord!

Now, back to the question, is God mad? Of course He is mad. He hates sickness. He hates death. He hates despair. He hates everything that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. So is He doing this? I don’t think so. I am not God, so I do not know, but what I think is that people are about to see what a difference He makes.

Those who know Him already know the difference because we have peace in the storm. At least peace is available and believers respond to it. We might be slower at time but we do respond

Was God mad when people cheered for the Jesus on the way into town and yet He knew they were going to flip flop and call for His crucifixion? I would certainly think so. The thing is, God cannot sin so He can be angry and not sin. His mercy endures forever.

We, or at least most of us would not do well as God. We lose it on occasion. We think what we should not think and do and say what we should not do or say. We curse when we should bless, and we do not remember to pray when we should. As scripture says, “we all like sheep have gone astray.”

Simply acknowledging that fact can and will bring great peace. Remembering that we are not perfect is helpful in putting things in perspective.

We are in the middle of the revelation of the goodness of God that is truly beyond our comprehension. As mad as God should be, He controls His anger and does for us what we do not deserve because He wants to draw us near and have us know Him in a very personal way.

In return, He wants us to do what He does. He wants us to walk as He has called us to walk. He does not ask us to walk alone. He assures us that he will have his eye on us and He will guide us. Where can you get a better deal than that?

If we will simply receive God’s presence we will get over whatever it may be that hinders us. In His presence is fullness of joy. We should have great joy at every thought of God. It is a good time right now to give a shout and rejoice. Jesus is still Lord!
