IS HE

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1John 4:4 KJV)

This verse holds so much that is key to our walk with God, but for now we just want to ask ourselves, “is He.” I have to ask myself, is He in me? If I am born again, I really must answer yes He is, because He said that He would be in me. Since that is true, I can be sure that He has done His part. Whether I walk in all that this fact implies does not change the fact that if I say I am in Christ, then He is in me.

The next question, which is the most important thing for us to settle in our minds is; “Is Jesus who is in me greater than he who is in this world?” Is Jesus greater than the powers of darkness? Is He greater than any weapon that is formed against me? Is He greater than any sickness, financial problem, or any other need in our lives? Is God able to do all that He has promised to do?

Our immediate answer to each question would be certainly Jesus is all that He says that He is. In all honesty however, most of us would have to acknowledge that we have some growing to do before our lives display this truth all the time.

Notice, that this was written as a statement of facts. John was saying to them that since they were brothers and sisters in Christ, Jesus was in fact dwelling in them. Because of this He was comfortable in declaring to them that they were over comers because they were of God.

Perhaps they had been feeling a little less than victorious. Perhaps they had been questioning if all that they had been taught was really a workable thing. Since John was addressing the need for them not to believe every spirit and to always test to see if it was God, they must have been battling some lies of the enemy.

We know that it is in our minds that satan loves to assault us. For this reason, John was reassuring them that since they were of God they had already overcome these attacks. They just did not realize it! John settled it and expected them to walk in it.

If we believe that Jesus is in us, and that He is greater than the one who is in the world, then we can declare ourselves to be over comers. We can walk in this. Not because we decide to, but rather because God has said it.

The Bible says we are of God and that we have overcome. That is Good News! We believe He is!
