IS IT TOO LATE

I wish that even today you would find the way of peace. But now it is too late, and peace is hidden from you. (Luke 19:42 NLT)

Jesus stood above Jerusalem and prayed that they would find peace knowing that it would be a long time coming. Still it was His desire for them and it is His desire for us. Let me assure you that it is never too late. If you can read this, it is not too late. It is not too late for God to bring peace to every situation and circumstance in your life. It is not too late for God to make the good things better nor is it too late for him to take a mess and turn it to a miracle. It is not too late.

Of course this all depends on us. We can be sure that God will always do His part but will we do ours? Today we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Nearly 2000 years ago, there were people who thought it was too late. In fact nearly everyone thought it was too late. The people thought they had found their King, the Messiah, only to see Him crucified. They thought it was too late because they could not grasp the truth of what He had told them. They could not even imagine that He would really rise from the dead. Oh, but on Sunday morning He was no longer in the grave and the news began to spread that He was alive just like He promised. Still, not everyone would believe it. Even after they saw Him they were in a state of wonder.

Today the same is true. Not everyone will believe. Even among those who believe, there are limits as to what they will believe. We all have places where doubt takes hold or where we simply refuse to go where the Lord is trying to take us. We may have bitterness or unforgiveness in our hearts and we refuse to go too that place of peace. After so long resisting we begin to think that maybe it is too late, but it is not too late. It is not too late to experience resurrection and life in every area of our lives. Please believe this.

Once the Pharisees came to Jesus and wanted to know where He thought he got the authority to clear the temple. So Jesus asked them where they thought John got his authority. They would not answer because if they did they would either be trapped into admitting that Jesus was who He said He was or they would be in trouble for not admitting that John was a prophet. They refused the truth and so they could not move on to the next truth.

The key for us it to never stop believing or we will miss the peace that Jesus came to give us. Do you have a place where you have stopped? Is there some part of your life that is dead and rotting in a tomb? It is not too late! Today if you hear His voice don’t harden your heart. Perhaps you have never asked Jesus into your heart. Do it today. Perhaps you have but there is some other area in which you are stalled; it is not too late. Let this be your day of celebration. Let this be the day you come out of the tomb into God’s light in every area of your life. He is alive and ready to bring abundant life to all of us.
