IT SHALL COME TO PASS

Surely, as I have thought, so it shall come to pass, and as I have purposed, so it shall stand. (Isaiah 14:24 NKJ)

Once I had intentions of buying a travel trailer to go on the road singing for Jesus. I was pretty sure this was what I should do and the Lord even told me I could buy it for a certain price. He even gave me some other specific instructions which I followed. However when Vikki and I went to look at it, it just did not feel right, so we did not buy it.

This was shortly after we came to know the Lord and needless to say I was a bit confused. Finally the Lord told me that He said I could buy it, not necessarily that I should buy it. Rather than telling me now was not a good time to do that, He taught me a lesson about listening along the path. Another time recently, I was claiming a particular vehicle and felt like it was a good thing, but in this instance, my failure to act ended up with it going to someone else. I just did not do my part.

The first example would have been very bad had we not kept listening to the Lord. Missing the purchase of the vehicle was no big deal, but a good lesson all the same. Sometimes, the Lord just gives me little random examples of things that end up making a lot of sense to me and these are just a couple that He has used.

As long as we stand with the Lord, we can be sure that His plans and the things that He has purposed will come about, but we can change the results. How determined we are to follow the Lord makes a difference. It is necessary that our faith grows.

We just returned from a trip with a bus load of students from our school. At a function that we attended, they offered the opportunity for people to purchase their soft drinks in a souvenir cup with unlimited refills. It was the best deal, so many purchased the cups. When we returned home, I found many souvenir cups that we just left with the trash. I guess they had served their purpose and just were not that important to some of the kids, or perhaps they just forgot them.

My thought about this was that we can do the same thing with what God gives us. We can grab a cup of salvation and then just leave it lay around or we can continue to fill it up. We can use it when it is convenient and then forget about it until we are desperate again, but then there is a long list of even greater struggles that can come into play.

One more of those little bites concerning God’s purpose is how often do we allow what God has spoken to be washed away by what a doctor, a banker, a friend, an enemy or even our own unbelief? God says that what He says will stand. Will we stand on what He says? If we will stand, we will behold the glory of God. Our part is the easy part, even if it does not seem like it sometimes. Know the Word and know the Lord of the Word and just keep standing on the truth.
