IT WAS GOOD
Then God saw everything He had made, and indeed it was very good. (Genesis 1:31)
Everything that God made was good. He looked at it to make sure it was perfect and then “He said” again. He made it very good for two reasons. First, because He is good and He cannot do anything that is not good, and second because He made it for us! Remember all “His” plans for us are for good!
Can you believe this? Will you believe this? If you can and if you will, one great side benefit of this is that you can believe you are good! Yes God made you good with the potential to become gooder and gooder in Christ! I know that is not proper grammar, but it is true. No matter where you are or what you have done; whether you are running to God or from God; He made you and He made you good. Let the goodness flow.
These are but a few overflows that came as I continued to focus on loving God. God brought to my mind how He always desired to be our Father. It was a concept that His chosen people could not quite fathom even though He told them that He would put a new heart in them and that He would be their Father and they would be His children. To this day many still cannot even say or spell His name. They remain at a distance and are apposed to the idea of those who call their Father daddy! They continue to hold Him at arms length and think that it somehow honors Him. I don’t want my children to keep me at a distance. I want them to run to me and call me daddy.
Well, this thought in turn focused on what Jesus told the disciples when they asked Him to teach them to pray. You know what He said; He told them to say “Our Father.” In other words, we should get up close and personal. There is no doubt about how much God loves us. His love has been trickling out for all eternity. His love overflowed on the day He gave His only son for us. Jesus prayed that He would love us just as He loved Him and we Know Jesus gets what He asks for.
Jesus got what He asked for because He loved His Father in an unrestrained way. He had no doubts. He had perfect confidence. He knew who He was and He knew what His Father promised Him. Because of that God’s love always flowed freely. We too can have that love flow just as freely. Yes we can! Don’t doubt it. Claim it.
Look at it this way if you will. People spend billions of dollars every year on lottery tickets and other forms of gambling just hoping to be the one who wins. Every now and then someone wins big. There is always a trickle that keeps people trying. Well with God, everyone who enters into His love wins big. It is not a game of chance. It is a response to free flowing love. It is our love for Him that opens the flood gates. We need only to keep pressing in, being born again and again into a deeper understanding of the goodness of God. He truly lives to be a blessing to all. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Enjoy His love and His presence.
