I'VE GOT A FEELING

Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will give us later. (Romans 8:16)

We sing a chorus that says, “I’ve got a feeling everything’s gonna be alright!” The confidence behind this feeling is faith in Jesus Christ. Trust in Jesus can and will produce this assurance even if the actual feeling is not present. We must be prepared to stand on things we know, even if we don’t feel them right now. Then based on what we know we can declare it before we feel it or see it manifested.

We have so much that we can and should thank God for. We should thank Him first, because He loves it when we thank Him, and there is fruit that results from our lips giving thanks. We should also thank Him because it brings to our remembrance the many things He has already done in our lives and gives us confidence for what is ahead.

No matter what is happening in our lives, it is nothing compared to what God will give us later. When I say later, I mean everything from the next second on through eternity. God is so wonderful and He is continually increasing and His plans for us are all good.

We all know this, but we let it slip our minds at times. We forget that He loved us enough to seal His covenant with us in the blood of His own Son. We forget that Jesus made it clear that this new covenant was better than the old covenant. When we say better, it is more of an indication that things slightly improving. When Jesus said better it was the beginning of something that would continue to improve and increase for eternity. The better of the blood of Jesus’ covenant is like a mathematical equation that increases each second exponentially. That is why God refers to His abilities as abundantly above and beyond what we can hope or imagine.

I read a comment this week from a man of God of many years ago who in speaking of the blood of Jesus said not to limit ourselves to what we could understand but to apply the blood by faith. The truth is the truth whether we feel it or understand it or not. That is why we can declare that we know God is working for us even when we don’t feel all warm and fuzzy.

Jesus did not feel all warm and fuzzy when He went to the garden to pray about the trial that was coming. He did however have a feeling and confidence that God would not fail Him, and because God did not fail Him, we can be assured God will not fail us. God cannot fail. Remove any thought from your mind that God has ever failed or that He could ever fail anytime in the future. If we do not do this, we open the door to doubts that will wreck our faith.

Keep giving thanks and rejoice as we enter the Christmas season when wise people celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. Show the world that no matter what, you have a feeling everything is going to be all right!
