JUDGMENT COMES
Tell the good people who do what is right that good things will happen to them...But it will be very bad for wicked people, because they, too, will get what they deserve. (Isaiah 3:10-11)
No matter how much we do not want it, judgment does come and is coming! Every day, we reap what we sow! We may not see the manifestation immediately and then again we might, but the fact remains every word and every action puts something in motion.
Isaiah 3 tells us that the people turned against the Lord and as a result things were going to happen. God wanted the people who had done good to understand that good things would be coming for them because everyone would get what they deserved. So we cannot think that judgment will not come, when in fact it is happening every day.
Still, there is a greater judgment coming, but no one knows when that will come for sure. The apostles said it would be soon. It has been coming soon for time and eternity; we just do not know what soon is in God’s time table.
We need to be able to understand that actions produce results but we must not be so quick to declare that God producing the results, but rather that He did in fact predict what would happen if we set certain things in motion. For instance, if I point my car at tree and drive as fast as I can and I hit the tree; was that God’s fault? Did He plan that? Did He want that? Why didn’t He stop it? I guess because it was my choice!
I cannot say what part God is playing in everything that goes on in this world. I can say that God prefers mercy. I can say this because that is what He said and says. I can say that because Jesus was the exact, total, and complete character of God manifested in the flesh and that was what He displayed. He said we should change our hearts and lives because His Kingdom was coming soon and His Kingdom is here. It is our choice to enter in. It is our choice keep exploring the greatness of His Kingdom or to stand outside looking in. Our seeking for and understanding of His promises and His warnings will determine our desire for the truth and our willingness to follow the Holy Spirit.
I do not relish the idea of final judgment. I do not want one person to end up outside of God’s desire for them. In other words, I want everyone to come to the knowledge of the truth. I want everyone to be set free. I know that is what you want too.
Isaiah 3:13 says, “Look, the Lord is standing to judge His people.” If that does not cause us to cry out for mercy and patience, I do not know what will. God knows what He is doing, so we need to pray for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. We are not seeing it in everything yet; let’s strive to see it manifested in greater and greater measure in each of our lives.
