JUST BE OPEN

To those who are open to my teaching, more understanding will be given and they will have abundance of knowledge. But those who are not listening, even what they have will taken away from them. (Matthew 13:12 NLT)

Isn’t it something when we consider that all we need to do in order to receive from God is to be open to what He teaches? Just think about it. Before you came to know Him, the only thing that kept you out of the Kingdom of God was that you were not open to His teachings. I know that was the case with me. I knew He existed. Or at least I believed it in a small way. Just like the people who listened to Jesus when He walked the earth, those who were open, received understanding and those who were not received nothing.

True understanding and knowledge are gained through experience. So when Jesus said that those who were open to His teaching would get more understanding and have an abundance of knowledge, He was telling them that they would experience the fruit of what He taught. When I became open to knowing Jesus in a personal way, I experienced His presence like never before. When I became open to His teaching on healing, I received Healing. With each experience I gained knowledge and understanding that I could share with others. The same was true when I became open to His teaching on sowing and reaping, provision, protection, and deliverance. Once we open the door for understanding, He pours it in.

In the same way, when we open the door for doubt, it floods in and understanding is removed. So often people will stand outside of the truth and say that they just can’t go that route. They are not open to the teachings of Jesus and consequently even their original interest begins to go away. Then something else will come up and perhaps they will look again. If they will only be open, they will receive, because God has promised this.

Jesus did not say that we had to understand we only need to be open and He will provide the understanding. If we are not open, then we are really saying we won’t understand and we will not be made to understand.

When Jesus walked this earth in human form, there were those who really had no understanding, but they were willing and open to have Jesus do what He said He could do. As a result blind were made to see, deaf were made to hear, the demon possessed were delivered, and the dead were raised. All of this was simply because people were open to the teachings of Jesus.

It is too simple you may say! That is the sweetest thing of all about the Kingdom of God. It is not complicated. It was never intended to be complicated. If a person wants salvation, they can have it. If they are open to all that Jesus teaches, He says they will have it. Is there anything that you have not been open too? It is time to open up!
