JUSTIFIED BY FAITH

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith...(Romans 3:28 NKJ)

I was reading a book by Watchman Knee recently and he was talking about the importance of the blood to God. In essence, he said that we just have to believe how important it is to God. You know, that is the way much of the Christian life is. We just have to believe it is the way that God says it is. Book upon book may be written on different subjects, thousands may write devotions such as this, but in the end it will depend up the individual response to the truth.

As much as we would love to be able to explain everything, the simple truth is that we can’t. And when we can’t, then we simply have to believe it. As the book of Hebrews tells us, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Just like the subject of the blood of Jesus. We know that the God said the life is in the blood. We know that we need blood and cannot live without it. We know about pleading the blood, applying the blood, sprinkling the blood, getting under the blood, and whatever other application there is. But do we really understand how important it is to God. I doubt it, but still we better believe it! Certainly some have greater understanding than others…but no one has it all.

Sometimes a person may have greater understanding and another person who does not may become overwhelmed by the fact that they just can not seem to get it. This has caused some to turn back and give up. But God warns us not to compare ourselves with ourselves or measure by any other measure than His measure. In other words, if someone knows more than you…so what! One who does not have great understanding, may in fact do much better than one who does, because they simply trust. There have been many who started out just trusting, and then when they found out they were expected to explain everything, they fell apart. That would be somewhat like what happened to the Galatians who began in the spirit and got entangled again in the law.

It is good to get understanding, and we should be continually seeking God for greater and greater truth. Still, when we cannot seem to get it clear, lets remember that it was faith that got us started, and faith that will take us home.

As God continues to do things in the earth that cause some to stumble because of their unbelief, and others to go deeper into religiosity because they cannot control what God is doing. Let’s remember that faith will go a long way in making it all make sense. In other words, if it seems like it just might be God doing what only God can do, then praise and thank Him. Start by believing it is Him, and if it is not, He will tell you.

On the other hand, if we reject Him when He knocks on the door, He may have moved on when we get around to thinking is just might have been Him. Abraham did not ask God for some time to consider the promise, He believed God. May the same be said of us.
