KEEP ON PRAYING

Keep on praying. (1 Thessalonians 5:17 NLT)

With things being the way they are right now in America, all I can think of is to keep on praying. It is just to bad that it takes a tragedy to get me to this place. I mean I always have my daily prayer times, but if I were to say that I am always this earnest in prayer I would be lying. I believe for all of us there are more intense times of prayer. If in the midst of this tragedy we will all do what this scripture says, we may just ward off any further events like this.

As you hear the reports from victims of this crime, you hear a lot about people praying. You hear of people who came down one hundred floors in a stairwell, and they say they just prayed all the way, and when they got out they prayed some more and a day later they are still thanking God.

God said that if the people who are called by His name would pray and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways; that He would hear from heaven, forgive our sins, and heal our land. Our land needs healing. Our land needs to turn back to honoring God. Our country needs to quit being tolerant of terrible sinful activities that go on here. Our churches need to quit trying to be politically correct and take a stand for the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We Christians need to live our faith.

Yes, we need to keep on praying. We need to pray our country right through this time of trial, and as we see God bless us, we need to keep on praying. This is not a time for us to fear and to tremble. God told me it is not a time for us to scramble, but rather it is a time for us to ramble in the Name of the Lord. Greater is He who is in us that he that is in the world. Thanks be to God who always causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus.

God did not bring this terrible thing on our country. But we have left holes in our armor, which allowed it. How good God was to keep it from being worse than it was. We must pray for God to comfort those who mourn, as we mourn with them. We must also thank God for all the lives that were spared and for the many who most certainly cried out to God in their distress who may have never cried out to Him before.

There are many things to pray about and I am sure you are doing it. But we must remember to keep on praying. It is the most powerful force in the world. It is through prayer that the perpetrators will be found out and taken care of. Prayer will uphold our economy and enable us to continue to be a force for God in the world.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that prayer is not powerful. Don’t believe for moment that your prayers will do no good. God hears every sincere prayer. And when you do not know what to pray, the Holy Spirit will make intercession for you. Determine in your heart that you are going to pray and keep on praying. Start now. And then fear not, for the Lord is with you. He will never leave or forsake us. Read Psalm 118 and pray through it. As I ended my prayer time last night, this was the scripture God directed me too.
