KEPT BY LOVE

Long ago the Lord said to Israel: "I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. I have drawn you to myself."(Jeremiah 31:3 NLT)

Now days, it seems that much of the church world is so focused on the coming of the end and the judgment of the world that we forget to think on God’s everlasting love. We forget that Jesus did not come to judge the world but to save it. We forget that everyone in the world is not an enemy of God. That is right. Not everyone is an enemy of God, and not everyone is an enemy of God’s children. Some just do not know any better, and if you remember right, you did not always know better either. To hear some talk, you would think that God can’t wait to crush everyone. The truth is that He is waiting because He does not want anyone to perish. God does indeed laugh at His enemies, but not with glee at the thought of destroying them. His joy comes from caring for those who love Him.

Truly, the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. So why are people in such a hurry to see it come to end. It seems that some Christians want the end to come, not so much so they can be with the Lord, but so they can see this evil world get what is coming to it. Man if they would have had their way twenty-seven years ago, I would have been history! It is a sad thing when we as believers lose sight of God’s everlasting love.

Ask yourself this question. “Have I experienced all that God has promised me?” If you are honest, the answer will be no. When I considered this question, I got a picture of salvation being like a weight machine. Everyone receives the same the machine. Some people will use the machine for a while but quit when they do not see instant success. Some will just leave it sit there knowing it could really help them, and every time a new report comes out on the benefits of strength training they will say, “I really need to do that.” But then they forget it. They will see others who are using theirs and either get inspired to get started or decide they really do not want to look like that. The wise ones, get it and start working with it and make it habit and look and feel better because of it.

The same is true when we become consumed by the love of God and begin to exercise our faith the way that God intended. We look and feel better. We become witnesses to the world of the goodness of God and the benefits of walking with Him.

Folks, the end will come! There is no getting around that, and I for one am looking forward to it. Not because I am anxious to get out of this world, or because I want the enemies of God to get what is coming to them, but because it will be great to see the Lord face to face and to enjoy what He has planned for eternity. He does make great plans!

For right now, I think God would like Christians to focus on what He promised us for this life. We should be doing and being what He called us to do and be. Showing the world an awesome God with an awesome love. And in the end, whenever that is…Oh boy!!!
