KINGDOM CULTURE

Jesus went everywhere in the country...and told the Good news about God's Kingdom. And He healed all the people's diseases. (Matt.4:23 ERV)

What culture influences your life? This is something we need to consider. We often hear how a person’s culture has caused certain things to happen. You can also hear people talk about returning to the culture of those who came before them. America is or was known for having certain type of culture. There are college courses and majors dealing entirely with culture. So what sort of culture should influence the person who follows Christ?

Well Jesus went everywhere telling the good news of God’s kingdom, so if we were to focus on His kingdom we would grow in that culture. Too often we find people explaining away the way things are in a person’s life because of the culture or way they were brought up. However, we know that scripture says we as followers of Christ are brand new. Old things have passed away. All the new things are available.

What is the culture of our kingdom now? What should we expect as partakers of this new culture? If we can believe, all things are possible in this kingdom. That kind of thinking can change everything. Notice, I said it can. It won’t if we refuse to understand that what God says is true.

Jesus described the Kingdom as being like a man who finds a treasure in a field and buries it and then sells everything to get that field. Have you ever considered that he eventually dug up that whole field expecting that there were more treasures in it? Think about it. If you found a gold nugget in a field, you might expect that there is a mine to be developed.

Too often I think we fail to dig. When we step into the Kingdom of God we need to run fast and get deep into the culture. Otherwise, we can be as one who hangs around the fringes thinking that being in is better than being out, but never really sold out. We need to let His kingdom influence us. We need to develop confidence in who we are in Him.

A king’s kid expects the benefits of a king’s kid. A king’s kid may not even act like a prince or a princess but they still expect to be treated royally. This is because they have been raised in that culture and have come to expect it.

There is so much more that we know about the Kingdom Culture, but that in itself should have us digging, searching, seeking, and finding. We should be knocking continually and not hesitating to ask because God has called us kings and priests.

We are in the family and we should enjoy the culture of the kingdom. When we do this, we become an attraction for others to experience the same thing we do. There is a kingdom to explore. Enjoy it!
