God knows His own, and His own know Him. Those who are seeking Him, hear His voice and follow Him. There is a chorus that says, God is moving by His Spirit…move oh Lord in me. This is the desire of God’s sheep, to be there with the flock in the care of the shepherd. His sheep want the move of God in every part of their lives. His sheep depend upon Him for the still waters and the green pastures. They look to Him for comfort and protection, as well as provision and direction. His sheep long for His table that is prepared for them and the oil of joy to overflow their cup. They look for His goodness and mercy every day of their lives, and in the end eternal life. They may not do it all perfectly, but it is what they want more than anything.

I was reading in Matthew chapter six, where Jesus is speaking of prayer, and says that He knows what we need before we ask. He knows our needs because we are His, and He is a good Father and wants to meet our needs. But note, that He did not say don’t bother to ask, He just said He knew before we asked. Still He likes to hear our voice. Yes He knows each of His children’s voices and loves to hear us call on Him. It is good for us to hear ourselves call on Him as well. It reminds us of who we are dependent upon, and of His faithfulness as we receive our answers. Well, as I was reading about this, the Lord spoke to me that His sheep know His voice, and that of course reminded me of this scripture in John. But then God said, that those who were responding to the call of the Spirit as it blows over this land are His sheep. Those who do not, are not His sheep. I know that some will take offense at that thought, but think about it. A good sheep seeks for and follows the shepherds voice. Only a rebellious sheep would ignore what the Good Shepherd says. And of course, one who is not in His flock would not recognize His voice. So God needs those who are in the flock to hear Him and to let others know that He is calling.

Now understand, that this not any particular denomination or movement that the Lord is promoting. It is Himself that He is exalting and revealing and calling people to. The wind is blowing in every place where people meet. He is calling those on the streets and in the bars, in the fields and in the deserts, as well as those in the churches. He is Calling people to repentance and to relationship with Him.

Let me just say this, that if your heart is not stirred by what is going on in the world, and if you’re not at all finding yourself desiring for God to intervene, then you probably do not know Him. You may know about Him, but if you are not depending on Him, then you will follow anything that looks good or sounds like it may be a solution. His sheep know that only He holds the key. Right now He is out calling His own, and offering life to anyone who wants to be His. What ever you do, don’t miss His call.
