LET ME HELP YOU

So dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. (1 Corinthians 15:58 NLT)

Nothing could be better than living for Jesus, keeping commandments and doing what pleases Him. Those are words of song from 35 years ago. That was how I felt then and how I feel now. At the time, I had just found the freedom that Christ came to give us and I really had no idea what I had. I just liked it.
Over time, as I came to know more, I liked it even more even though I learned there are bumps in the road and that it takes an effort to keep the cart moving so to speak. The danger is in trying to move the cart ourselves rather than hitching it up to the One who can move it.
I am reminded of Israel moving the Ark in the wrong way. Yes when we try to take over, disaster is bound to happen in one way or another. Life in Christ is not our cart to pull; it is ours to hitch up.
Recently a thought came to me of how things feel when everyone is not on the same page. I said sometimes we may be ready to play the song while everyone else is still tuning their instruments. Well God always has the song ready and He is waiting for us to join in.
“Let me help you,” were the words I sensed as I sought the Lord. To be honest I do not know for sure even what I was praying about. I really was not looking for anything that I remember, but His words certainly changed that. Help me with what? That is a silly question. He wants to help with everything.
Of course I believe that He is. Of course I believe He rewards those who diligently seek Him. How can I be sure I am diligent? Who decides who is diligent? What if I think I am but I am not? Oh my, what shall I do? Obviously if everything is not perfect I must not be diligently seeking Him? Are you following my drift?
Of course a good portion if not all of that is nonsense. But it sure invades our thought life. And it will suck the life right out of us if it can. Before we fall apart, we need to stop tuning, look at the conductor, and get on the page he is on. He is ready to help.
Sometimes he will put things on high speed and sometimes He may slow things down. No matter what, He will help. He wants to help. He says He will strengthen us, carry us, and uphold us. Our lives are His; we need to present ourselves for Him to renew our minds. There are many times in the midst of our scrambling when we just need to get a little renewal. We need to reset to the life that is in Him. Then we will be back living unto Him and nothing we do is useless. Only in heaven will we know the whole truth of that. For now we can enjoy knowing He is helping!
