LETS GO

But the world must know that I love the Father. So I do exactly what the Father told me to do. "Come now, let's go." (John 14:31 ERV)

When you want to get somewhere, you have to go. You have to move from where you are. If it is to change your thinking, you have to change your thinking; you cannot just say you want to change your thinking. So weather it is something physical, mental, or emotional, there needs to be a move. Even though God does not change, we are always needing to change in order to be conformed to His way of thinking and being.

For instance, I was praying this morning about the things I need to do according to the prayer Jesus taught. Then I was talking to God about the things He needs according to that same prayer. Yes, God has needs! One thing that really hit me was the asking part. We must acknowledge that He is our source for all things and in asking Him to give us what we need daily we are doing just that. Earlier in prayer I had asked God what He wanted me to do today, so when I came to the asking part He pointed out to me that I ask Him what He wants because I really want and need to know. Then it hit me, He needs me to ask for what I want.

Of course He knows everything, just as I know lots of things that He expects of me. Still, I want Him to tell me more. Well He wants me to tell Him more. The more I trust Him the more I should tell Him or be willing to ask Him. So I better get to it. Let’s go!

Another thing that we need to consider is what we are fixated on. Have you ever noticed how you can get fixated on something and that thing just grows and takes over your thoughts and ultimately your actions if you do not get it under control. Recently I became fixated on something and the more I thought about it, the more I thought of things I was going to say and do. Then I would recover and begin to praise God because it was better to be fixated on Him. However, before too long, I was back to the other thing. The other thing by the way was not worth all the time I was spending on it and the fruit of it was really useless. I am glad to say that I sort of won that battle before it could become really ugly, but I have be honest and say that I could have done better. When I read this scripture a day later I thought I could have done better if I had just moved completely out of the mindset I was in. It was not a total defeat, but like I said I could have done better.

Have you ever said you just cannot let something go? Well get away from it and don’t pick it up again. You know it is not doing you any good. Rather, be fixated on God and His word. Think on the just, lovely, good, and praise worthy things. Let’s go.

One final thought. 1 Corinthians 15:58 says…”stand strong. Don’t let anything change you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord.” If we are going to get anywhere in our relationship with God we need to move. If this is important to you; let’s go!
