LIFE THINKING

Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be satisfied with what you have. God has said I will never leave you; I will never run away from you. (Hebrews 13:5 ERV)

So many things go through our minds. There are so many choices that we make. All of these take effort. So as we discussed last week, it is important to make the effort to be found seeking life. After all, we all were once lost or perhaps more than lost. We were without God and without hope in the world. We were a lot of things, but Christ changes all of that. So now that we are not what we were, we need to be busy about life thinking.
So often I hear people say that they feel like God has forgotten them. They feel like He is so far away. We can all feel whatever we want, but we should know the truth. The truth gives life and life thinking is what we need.
We may have been a lot of things, but one thing we never were and never can be is forsaken or forgotten. God promised that would never be the case. So we can be sure that God is always there for us and always for the heart that cries out to Him.
If we get this thought settled where it cannot be moved, then we can believe that all things are possible to them that believe. Say this; God never has, nor will He ever forsake or abandon me. Make the effort to believe that. Find all those areas where you have been convinced that He had in fact deserted you and repent and be free from them.
In the night I was reminded of the effort that Jesus made to give us life. Every time, He had to choose the plan. God was always with Him to strengthen Him. He looked to God when He was being beaten, mocked, nailed to the cross, and ridiculed, and God was right there for Him. But then, when our sins, guilt, shame, sickness, pain, and more than we can imagine were loaded on Him; God left Him. He carried that all by Himself. He mustered the strength even then to declare it was finished, and finished it was. What was? It was!
Among the finished things was the way for anyone to ever again say that God had forgotten them. Jesus knew the feeling, and so one very big thing that will never happen to anyone ever again is being abandoned. Jesus can always raise this up as our advocate.
Even in our greatest sins, we have never been forsaken. God’s ears and eyes are always open to every single person. If He will not forsake us when we are lost, how can we ever think that He would forsake one who has joined the family? No, not one person will ever be forgotten or forsaken. God hears everyone who calls out to Him. There are certainly times when we will have to make the effort to overcome those thoughts and feelings of abandonment, but that is life thinking. Remember, Jesus came so that we could have life. He hears you!
