LISTEN...THINK ABOUT IT

You people who hear me, listen! Think carefully about what you are hearing. (Mark 4:23-24 ERV)

Are we really interested in what God has to say? Do we really believe it will benefit us? Do we want the benefits? Do we want to pass those benefits on? Have we stopped at the going to heaven someday café, or are we determined to live in and reveal the Kingdom of God that Jesus began to show us?

These seemed to be questions that Jesus spent His earthly ministry asking. Remember the time when God spoke and some thought it thundered and others thought an angel spoke and some went so far as to call it a voice from heaven; Jesus knew it was God! The Bible says it was God! Jesus was well pleasing to the Father and we should desire to not only hear what the Spirit of the Lord is saying, but we should also think carefully about what He is saying.

Personally, I like to be hearing and hearing what the Lord is saying. Even more than that I would really like what I am hearing and thinking about to manifest in my life and through my life. Believe me it is a work in progress! Sometimes it progresses by leaps and bounds and sometimes it seems to be at a snail’s pace. I have messages that I have heard at least ten times and each time there is more to challenge me. When the Holy Spirit is involved He can always lead us to deeper understanding. This is why Jesus said to carefully consider what we hear.

We should do whatever we need to do in order to get all we can out of what God is saying. Of course for us to really want something it must be really important to us. Mark 4:24 goes on to say that “God will know how much to give you by how much you understand now.”

I am not certain if it is a lack of desire, laziness, or indifference, but it seems that a vast majority are not really listening or thinking much about what they are hearing. We need to understand that there is no place to sit down and let the rest of the kingdom pass on by.

It is good to understand that God is good, but we can’t just sit down in His goodness and fail to move into the purpose of His goodness. Jesus said that only God was good and He revealed what it was all about everywhere He went.

Nowhere did Jesus dwell on going to heaven someday. He said He was going away and that He would ask the Father to send the Holy Spirit and that He would lead us into all truth. I know that I have not learned or walked in all of it yet. As I have said before, the more I see, the more I think the part I know is shrinking in comparison to what there is yet to know.

The exciting part is that I sort of feel like I am about ready to begin what I have been being prepared for. No, I really do not know what it is, but it is good all the same. God is good. He wants the world to know He is good. He wants people who will walk in Kingdom power and authority the way that Jesus said we should. He is all that is important. Seek first His Kingdom and His plans for His Kingdom. Hear what He says and really think about it.
