I recently read a report that someone has written a book and is teaching people to put out only positive energy so only positive things will come to you. Isn’t it interesting that when someone does this and leaves Jesus out of the idea they are becoming widely accepted? Yet when Christians start trusting Jesus to do all things, it is considered to be way out there. Sadly, it is not only those outside of the body of Christ that feel this way.

I guess Jesus knew we would be slow studies when it came to really trusting Him for all things! I like the way this translation emphasizes the fact that Jesus says, “Listen to me!” These people who are promoting positive energy are challenging people not to knock it until they have tried it. God has continually challenged people to try what He says and give Him the opportunity to prove that He cannot lie.

Have you ever been in a situation where people would not believe you and they ended up telling you to “prove it?” Have you ever given another person that challenge? Jesus was emphatic about the need for us to believe what He was saying in these verses. Do you suppose He knew there would come a time when people would begin to exercise positive energy with success that would lead to a frightening eternity? Do you suppose that He wanted His people to stand on His promises and expose those other ways as the frauds that they are? Remember, satan is a great imitator.

When Jesus told them about moving mountains, it was not just a cute illustration. That was Jesus way of telling them that nothing was impossible! They had grown up hearing how mountains shook and seas parted; Jesus was telling them that power was alive and well today. In our day and age, man has used machinery and explosives to move mountains and divert rivers. God has given us wisdom and means to accomplish great things, but they are still nothing compared to what God can do with a word!

Let’s face it, Jesus did not tell them this so that they would go around changing the lay of the land. He was showing them that they really could pray for anything. They could even move a mountain if necessary! How can we make this clearer? Imagine some very rich person shopping with his children, and one of them asks what they can buy. Now imagine him saying they could buy the whole store if they really wanted to! With that in mind, what would there be that they could not have? He did not tell them to buy the store; he just let them know they could have the whole thing if they wanted, and he had the means to back it up if they asked! No man’s wealth would even show up on a comparison chart to God’s holdings. And if we were to speak of raw power, there simply is nothing like God.

Jesus said, “Listen to Me!” So let’s do it. Let’s put out Jesus energy. He is the positive force with abundant life, now and forever.
