Have you ever noticed that it seems like the little things are the ones that get to you in your walk with God? We get control of those “big” sins only to find ourselves saying things we should not say, or having an attitude that we need to be rid of. Well, as I sought the Lord about what to share today, He said, “Little things.” As I continued to fellowship with Him, I had a sense that little things were going to be glimpses of great things that are coming.

Let me explain. I felt like there were going to be peek holes that would provided glimpses of things if only we would watch for those little glimpses. On the other side of the little things alert, I felt like there was a warning not to overlook little wrong things, because they can easily sneak up and bite like a ornery dog.

So with this on my mind I went out to clean some snow off the parking area for the church. First, the tractor would not start. Not a big thing really, but it could have been enlarged if I let my mind or attitude loose. Instead I just took a moment to think and act and got it started. Again, not a big thing, but I took it as one of those little things to just start praising God for.

It was not long until I had another little thing to praise about, as I saw that when the plow went by on the high way, they helped me out a bunch with the clean up. It was just another little thing to give God praise and glory for. By this time I was seeing more and more of what the Lord was trying to show me. So as I praised and scooped, yet another wonderful thing happened that saved me time and energy. It was a great time out there!

God wants us to watch for little things that may not seem like anything to others, but we know better. As we pay attention to those things and give Him glory for them, it is going to widen the peek holes until they become doors to showers of blessings. Yes God does want to bless us! Let these little things encourage you.

One more little encouragement that the Lord provided was when I was thinking about the little things on the other side of the coin; you know those attitudes, those harsh words, and times we fail to be grateful. I felt like God reminded me that I would be perfect even as He is perfect! Of course, we all know that scripture says that, but I felt like He was telling me to just keep pressing and it would come. Instead of looking at it like the impossible dream, I think He wants us to be encouraged that all those things He says, including our perfection, will come to pass if we just keep our eyes on Him.

So don’t overlook little wrongs and shove them under the rug. At the same time, be on the look out for those little blessings. And don’t let little discouragements rule your life either; let the promises of God lift you up. Doesn’t this make you just a “little” excited?
