LIVING ON LOVE

Anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. (1 John 4:8)

Love is a big deal to God! We have been living on love since before creation. We are challenged to love God and to receive His love. Yes, God is love and God is loving. He is gentle and kind and merciful and everything good. True love comes from God. Our ability to love and receive love comes from God.

So, do you love God? Do you tell Him? Do you swoon in His presence? Recently a woman told me that she had prayed all her life, but she had never before told God that she loved Him. She was so excited to share that it changed everything.

Take a moment with me. Let’s just tell God we love Him. I love You Lord! I really love you! I love  You for who you are. I just love You!

We really can live on that love! Songs have been written saying that love is all we need. Everyone needs love and wants love. The truth is, we never really love until we know God’s love.

“I want to know what love is,” is a line from a song. From deep down inside, the writer was looking for God, because God is love. Even the most damaged and hurting person can be restored by allowing God to love them and loving Him back.

We talked previously about allowing God to fill the gap and overcome every weapon formed against us. The truth is that God dissipates messes. Time spent with God is time well spent.

Take Jehosaphat for instance when his enemies were promising to destroy him. He spent time with God. He laid it all out and God responded by laying the enemy out. It took four days to gather up all the treasures they had with them. Seems like that should been a time a lot of people loving God.

There is another song that says, “Most of all, I love how you love me.” People my age or those who listen to oldies know that tune. I love the thought, because, most of all, I love how God loves me.

I love how troubles melt in the presence of His love. They are locked out while I am in my secret place with God. They may knock on the door, but the deeper I go into God, the fainter the knocking until it is no longer a problem.

We always have a choice to go deeper with God or fight on our own. Some people think it is lame to take the easy way, but it is the most logical way to me. Time spent loving God is time well spent.

This is true in every relationship. Love covers all circumstances. Jesus showed love in serving. Forgiving releases the Love of God. Giving does the same. The love of God is spread about by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Jesus healed Peter, saying, “Do you love me?” Do you love God? Have you told Him lately?
