LOVE CAME DOWN

So the word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father's one and only Son. (John 1:14)

There is a song with a line that says, “Jesus came down and glory filled my soul.” I keep singing it as Jesus came down and satisfied my soul. We were created in God’s image and then He came and put on our flesh. Is that amazing or what. We were made in His image. We need Him to complete us.
Angels lit up the sky with singing declaring peace and good will for everyone. We know that it is more specifically for all who would believe who He is. Love came down for everyone. That is what Jesus is. He is love. He is the love of the God. He is the mercy of God. He is the one and all and only one who can satisfy our souls.
Like everything with God, we do not know the truth of it until we know it is true. It is possible that there is someone who will read this today who does not find Jesus to be so satisfying. You might be wondering why you do not feel so wonderful about Him. Don’t be discouraged. Just give yourself over and let His glory fill your soul. There is no shame in not knowing. He came so we could know.
I keep thinking about the idea that the only way God could make it all work out was if He put on flesh and lived among us. Of course, that was what He desired from the very first. He delighted in walking in the garden with Adam and Eve. He wanted that to continue and cover the earth with the same atmosphere, but that did not work out. So the new plan was made, and love came down.
He had to have a way to walk among us. He revealed what it was like to have Him among us through Christ. Jesus in turn told us He would continue to be with us through our comforter, Holy Spirit.
I just feel like we need to focus on the how much God loves us and realize that Jesus birth was the ultimate expression of that. Choosing to come and put on flesh was an amazing sacrifice. Walking among us as a man and showing us how to totally depend on our Father was amazing as well. He had to be born in order for Him to die for us.
He was, is, and always will be love. In the rush of the season, think of His love for you. In the rush of the season, share His love with others. Share Him with others. Magnify Him. In love let everyone know how you love Him and how He loves.
Lord, fill our hearts to overflowing today and everyday with the wonder of your love. It is in knowing how we are loved, that we in turn love you the way we should. Thank you Lord.
