LOVE DOES NO WRONG
Love does no wrong to anyone, so love satisfies all of God's requirements. (Romans 13:10)
Well, there we have it. If we want to fulfill all of God’s requirements, all we have to do is love. Needless to say, that is enough to keep me busy for life and then some. It must have been moments like this that caused Paul to say that the things he wanted to do, he did not do and the things he did not want to do, he did do. Oh how sweet it is to trust in Jesus, for He can strengthen us to measure up to even the most impossible tasks.
If you think about it, it really is not all that hard to actually love. The problem is that we sometimes just do not want to. It is that old enemy of what we consider to be our rights. If someone infringes on our territory, then we have a right not to love. The only problem is that God does not see it that way.
We have all heard at one time or another that there are a lot of forms of love. Love does always feel good. Sometimes it is tuff to receive and sometimes it is tuff to give. The bottom line is that love does not wrong anyone. So if our actions or our words are harming someone, then they are not truly loving.
For instance, it was Jesus love for righteousness and His hatred for unrighteousness that enabled Him to hate the attitudes and actions of the unrighteous leaders, and yet love them so much that He asked the Father to forgive them. We all know about loving sinners while we hate the sin. It is possible to hate sin in a loving manner you know.
God gave us key to successful loving when He told us not to get into judging. If we love the people enough not to judge their thoughts or motives, then we will be able to pray and move the mountains, rather than building mountains that cause more problems.
How do we know if we harming someone? Well, Jesus said we should do to others what we would like them to do to us. So I guess that if we would not want someone talking about us or doing to us what we are doing to or saying about them, then that may be the answer we are looking for.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could think about people the way that God thinks about us? Like Paul, I can say with for certain, that I have not yet accomplished all that God desires, but I can put behind what was(successes and failures), and reach for what is to come, knowing that God will guide a willing vessel.
If it seems impossible, then remember that Jesus told us to yoke up with Him. Truly His yoke is easy and His burden is light. If we want to love, He will help us. To walk in Christ is to walk in Love.
I pray that God will help us all to do all things in love. Lord, help us to do no harm to anyone and to fulfill all your requirements.
