LOVE NEVER

It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.(1Cor. 13:6-7)

As we begin this devotion, I am reminded again that this is more than a list of behaviors that God desires of us. It is a description of love and God is love and therefore, this is also a list to make us aware of just how He lovingly watches over our lives. Contrary to the view some may have, God is not just watching wanting to catch us doing something wrong. He watches for the opportunities to see us win, and rejoices when we do.

He never gives up on us. He never loses faith in His ability to complete a good work in us. He never loses hope for our victory, and He loves us no matter what may be going on in our lives. Knowing that gives me confidence that God’s love will prevail in bringing us successfully into this kind of love for one another.

We should never be glad about injustice. No matter how much someone may have wronged us, we should not be glad about bad things happening to them. Just because we may think it serves them right does not justify a vengeful attitude. Our rejoicing should come when the truth wins. When God’s way prevails and when God’s love is manifested, that is when rejoicing should come.

I think we have all been guilty of a “that will teach them attitude.” You know, when someone seems to be learning the hard way. We should not rejoice at their struggles in learning. Love and compassion should be our prayerful attitude and our rejoicing should come when the truth wins out.

After all, love never gives up on others. Neither does love give up on God. So whether it is for the sake of someone else, or it for our own circumstances, with God’s love we should never give up. Hold on to the truth of Gods love for you. Everything else may be a mess but God’s love is true.

There is a song that says faith is like a rope. We need to tie that rope around us and hold on to God’s love. That rope of faith will pull us through. No matter what someone may be going through, love is strong enough. We just cannot give up.

Love will endure through all circumstances. That is why the enemy tries so hard to keep us from realizing the power of love. The power of God’s love for us, and the power of God’s love working through us, is greater that any power on earth. That love can stop a murderer before the murder takes place. That love is more powerful than the most powerful bomb.

That Love was manifested in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. May you have a Christmas filled with love. Remember you can love. It is a choice. Jesus has put love in our hearts. Let’s spread it around.
