LOVING KINDNESS AND TRUTH
You will give me added years of life as rich and full as those of the many generations, all packed into one. And I shall live before the Lord forever. Oh, send your loving kindness and truth to guard and watch over me. (Psalm 61:6&7 TLB)
In order to teach the truth you must talk about sin because the truth is that the soul that sins, will die. The truth is that we should not do what we know God does not approve of. It is also the truth that God is merciful but He is no fool. He does not lie nor does He overlook lies. We must live according to the truth of His word if we want to receive the promises of His word. We must never lose sight of the fact that God will not be mocked. It is because of this that we must maintain an attitude of no compromise.
Having said all that, I have to say that I can only go for so long pointing all of that out before I am compelled to speak of His loving kindness and truth. I am overwhelmed by the desire to have everyone know just how wonderful our Lord is. I feel so badly for people who are caught up in religions where their god takes and takes from them and never gives them assurance of his love or compassion. The Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is so faithful and steadfast in His love and His promises and that was what Jesus came to declare to the people. He came to tell them that God is a good God who has good plans for all His children.
We need to have the confidence that David did when he declared that God would give him extra years of life that are rich and full. Have you ever noticed how much more wonderful your life is with Jesus as your Lord and Savior? If He is, then you should have noticed. My experience has been that every year with Him has been more full than all the years without Him put together. I used to think there was no way it could keep getting better, but I was wrong. Truly every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before. Of course we all have a choice as to whom we are going to spend our days with and I must admit that there are moments when I leave Him standing on the outside. Those are regrettable times, but thankfully He is always faithful to forgive me when I return to my senses and repent.
What a joy it is know that we will live from now through eternity before Him with Him watching over us to help us and not hurt us. Remember, Jesus said that He came into the world to save us not judge us. We determine our own place in eternity. He does not have to judge us. We will be measured by the standard that He has clearly given us. He told us that He set before us the way of life and of death and then He said, “Choose Life.”
When we choose life then we choose to have His loving kindness and truth watching over us. The truth is that He wants to give us abundant life. He desires that we have health, protection, provision, direction, and every good thing. All of these things and more are ours if we will only believe and receive the Word of God. It is all true, and it is all love, because God is love. Can you feel Him right now reaching out to you with His loving kindness and truth? Just close your eyes and tell Him you want to feel His love.
