MADE READY
We were made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:22 NLT)
There is a chorus that says God will make it way when it seems there is no way. He has given us a way, who is The Way, and in Him we are restored to the way we were made in the first place. It is amazing! You see, we were made right and ready in the first place.
In the beginning, man was made in the image of God. Adam and Eve were made for eternity with God. All that was necessary was to follow His lead; but they did not, so they were put out of the garden and kept out by a fiery sword. Then for years, man proved how incapable he was of following God without His indwelling Spirit. Even though, nothing had changed in God’s mind, it seemed there was no way. Then it was prophesied that a virgin would give birth to the savior of the world. So there was hope, but it was far off. People looked to it, and spoke of it, but it was hard to hang on to.
Jesus was born and revealed the person and character of God and confirmed that He was in fact God in the flesh. He was murdered, rose from the grave, and returned to the Father leaving us with the news that we would receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us. He would then lead us to all truth and enable us to live in Christ. He is the oil for our lamp!
And so, the truth is that we were made ready to be made right with God. We were born with all that we needed. We were made in God’s image for the purpose of fellowship with God. We were created to worship God. We were made to be transformed by the renewing of our mind; perhaps we could say restoring of our minds for the purpose they were originally created.
In other words, we have all the ingredients in the beginning, but we lack the instruction that the Holy Spirit provides. We wander around until we figure out that all of our wandering is leading nowhere. You see, we were made with a tracker that is looking for God, who made us.
Often people come a place of wondering what their purpose is. This is a good spot to understand that their purpose is fellowship with God. Then out of that understanding, the life they have been seeking begins to flow.
I have often said that I did not know I was looking for anything until if found what I was looking for. It is like people who go shopping and suddenly find the perfect gift. They become so excited and can’t wait to get it to the person they found it for.
So you see, a relationship with God is not something that you need to get ready for. You’re made ready for it. All that is required is that we step into it. It is seeing that open door and walking through it, and then just keep walking through those open doors. The deeper we go the greater our understanding is. We were made ready and right for of the Kingdom of God!
