MANAGE YOUR GIFTS
God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God's generosity can flow through you. (1 Peter 4:10 NLT)
I want to start this out by saying that you do have gifts. In fact, you probably have far more than you know. If we think that we have no gifts we are wrong because God does not lie. Read this scripture. It says that He has given gifts to everyone straight out of His spiritual gift bag. He wants us to manage those gifts so that His generosity can flow through us. Based on this, I want to encourage you not to focus on what you don’t think you have but rather to declare that God has given you gifts and you are prepared to manage them well.
The very first example that we are given is the gift of speaking. Can you talk? If you can talk then God can use you to speak. In fact you may be the only person gifted to speak to a particular person. So do not think that you could never be a speaker. You do not have to stand in a pulpit or on a soap box to speak. You simply must be prepared to manage the gift to speak and to speak what God gives you. Remember. One word from God can change a person’s life and you may be the speaker of that word.
The next example is the gift of helping people. Now you may think you can barely help yourself. Or you may wonder what in the world you have that would help anyone. That is the wrong way to look at it. You should declare that God has gifted you to help and when the opportunity arises you will help with the gift God has given you. That help could come in any of a number of forms. It could be as simple as giving someone directions to the gas station. You can give them directions. You can even lead them there.
There is no way that God would send us out without the power and the resources required to accomplish our mission. The Kingdom of God is advanced by God through God’s gifts. That is why He has given them to all of us. One person may appear to be more gifted in one area than others are, but perhaps that is because they are managing that gift better.
If you will begin to accept that God has in fact given you gifts and then start to use or manage them for the glory of God, you will find out just how capable God is and just how gifted you are. As you gain confidence you will find yourself managing more gifts than you ever imagined.
There is no doubt that each and every one of us has gifts that we have never even considered using. Isn’t it better to imagine what gift you will manage next, than to think that you have none? It is time to enter into management.
