MEASURE OF CHRIST'S GIFT

But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift. (Eph. 4:7)

How do you think that God measures out His grace? I think that we on the whole have the idea that there is a difference in the measure that is given to each person. However, I don’t believe that is the case at all. Since God is no respecter of persons, it stands to reason that each one begins with the same measure and from that point on we determine at what level Christ continues to flow too and through us.

Obviously, there are people who develop a deeper relationship with God, but that is not because God gives them anything extra to begin with. Jesus said that whoever seeks will find, whoever asks will receive, and whoever knocks will find an open door. Does that sound like anyone has an advantage?

I’ve heard people say that God does greater things to get one persons attention than another. A person once told me that maybe if something happened to him like happened to Saul (Paul) then he would be like Paul. Think about Saul for a minute. He was zealous for God! He was looking for people who followed Christ because he thought Christ was taking away from God. Perhaps it was not a bolt of sunlight that blinded him, but rather a tiny glimpse of God’s glory. Suddenly he saw things more clearly! What first got your attention? What did you do once you received your measure?

Don’t be stalled in your walk with God thinking that others have a more open door to the Lord. Take your measure and seek Him. The mistake that many make is seeking a ministry, or a mission rather than simply focusing on God allowing Him to reveal it.

The whole reason we are called is that we might know God. His desire is that we first and foremost love and worship Him. What we accomplish along the way is small in comparison to drawing close to Him. Don’t think God won’t use you! If you are loving Him and seeking Him, you are in launch position.

The measure God gives each of us is like a seed. There is no such thing as bad seed, and I believe we each have a measure of good soil as well. Paul did not have to change his course. He could have become more stubborn and determined to stop the spread of Christianity, but he chose to change. That is what must happen in our lives. We must continually choose to change. The more we seek, the more we will find. The more we ask, the more we will receive. The more we knock, the more doors will open.

Just remember, your measure is the same as everyone else’s. It may be that you have done less with it. Perhaps you are like the person who buried their talent in the ground. Believe me, we have all missed it. Now that you realize you started with same thing everyone else did, it is time to go and grow. We all have ways that we can enlarge our tents. Understanding produces growth spurts. So let’s get growing!
