MIND POWER

I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you grow in your knowledge of God. (Ephesians 1:16-17 NLT)

A truly powerful mind is one that is renewed in the Spirit and filled with the knowledge of God. We are not speaking of knowledge about God, but of a mind filled with His knowledge. Scripture tells us that we have the mind of Christ so then it stands to reason that we have access to His way of seeing and being.

The first thing that we must use this kind of mind power for is to overcome our own thinking. We all have our own way of thinking don’t we? Of course we do! In Romans, we see that we can and should be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We can upgrade to His way of thinking.

When we begin to allow this transformation to take place and our thinking becomes more and more fine tuned, it also affects what we see and how we see. Yes the eyes of our understanding have an entirely different focus.

Please note that this is something that we must allow to happen. God will not make it happen. He does not kidnap up and brainwash us as some try to imply. God will not torture us into submission. No! That is the way the devil operates. He wreaks havoc in people’s lives and then accuses God and causes people to question and doubt God.

So this transformation actually takes place when we decide that God’s ways and thoughts are the ways and thoughts that we desire most. This often comes with sporadic beginnings as we out of desperation accidentally give up our own ways and thoughts and allow God to lead. After a bit we see that it actually worked so we begin to do it on purpose.

Unfortunately, this does not take place over night nor does it happen without resistance. We must be determined to stand and stand and stand on His Word and Ways. This again requires a decision on our part. It is true that God can change our lives and a relationship with Him is guaranteed to change our lives, but He won’t do it without an invitation!

This is a mistake that we have made over the years and it has caused many people to stumble and fall. The idea that it is up to God to change people makes people think that if they don’t change it must be because God does not want them to or that it will happen when God wants it. The truth is that God gives us the opportunity and the power to change and then leaves it up to us to decide what we will do with it. It is our choice. God certainly got Paul’s attention, but Paul had to choose to follow. Paul understood that the more He flowed in God’s will and ways, the more the life that is in Christ changed him and those he ministered to. We seek and He provides. We grow and he gives more understanding. It starts with Him, and is continued at the level we desire. Wow!
