MORE PEOPLE

So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. (2 Corinthians 4:18)

The Kingdom of God has room for a lot more people and more and more people are coming to God every day. Churches want more people. Political parties want more people. We want more good people and more protection from bad people. But today, I am thinking that we are all “MORE PEOPLE!”

We are born wanting more. More is a very early word in our vocabulary, and it is always there. Our desire for more takes us down many different paths. There are paths for good and paths for evil.

Most evil paths are not clearly marked evil, and we do not see exactly where they might lead, even when the evidence is staring us in the face. A present example would be the opioid crisis in our country and around the world. The evidence is printed in bold headlines. People are dying. Why would someone even consider fentanyl? How many testimonies are there of single sample death? Still more people try it because they want more of something. If they don’t live to tell us what they were looking for we will never know.

The desire for more is not evil in itself. In fact, it, like everything else God placed in us was intended for good. You can see where I am headed. The only fulfillment for more was God Himself. He alone is the more. And He alone is more than enough, even though we can never actually get enough. He is the only addiction we could die for that will never kill us. He came so we could have life. Life is all He gives!

What is it that you want more of? Think of the more’s that fill your life. Do they draw you closer to God or do they keep you from the closeness that you really desire. Have you ever wished you had more time for God? Or have you said, “I don’t have time for God?”

Time is another thing that we all need more of! I have been guilty of saying that I will make time! Who am I kidding? I can’t make time! I can take the time, but I cannot make the time. God made time for us. Time is irrelevant to God. He gave us time to do what we want with it. The reward is in giving it back to Him. Time will tell. Have you ever heard or said that?

Jesus, “you are more than enough!” As I told Him this early this morning, I prayed a song from long ago. Take me. Mold me. Hold me. Show me the way. So nearly 41 years later, I am still where I was! Have I failed to mature? Why am I still desperate for more? My conclusion.

Lord, you are the only more that matters!  Believe me, more of what I want, and my way, gets in the way of perfection every day, but the conclusion is always the same. I just need more Jesus. All the other mores are just more. Good or bad, they are just more. Jesus is the only, more than enough! You have probably had enough of this! Time for more Jesus. Have a great day!
