MOVING ON
Jesus entered the temple and began to drive out the merchants and their customers. He knocked over the tables of the moneychangers and the stalls of those selling doves. (Matt. 21:12 NLT)
Jesus, as always, showed us the best way to handle things once He had taken that ride into the city. He did not sneak in, nor did He take a low profile. Jesus went right on with His Fathers business. The first thing was to clean out that temple and let the people know that things are changing.
When we commit to follow the Lord, the best thing we can do is plan for change. Anything the Lord wants, we should be ready to say yes and amen to. Jesus headed for the temple to worship, and that should be our first desire as well. We should seek the Lord and worship Him at all times, in everything we do.
When Jesus got to the temple, He discovered it was no place to worship, so He fixed it. We should be just as adamant about getting rid of anything that keeps us from worshipping the Lord as well. I don’t mean throwing someone else out either. I mean if we have bad attitudes, and vain imaginations that are keeping us back, we should tip over the tables and take our spot near the Lord. Whatever it takes, that is what we must do. We must be determined that nothing will keep us from that place that God is calling us to.
Jesus was plowing His way to the cross, which was His launching pad to the future glory. We all know that there are some things in our lives that are in the way and that will have to die. We can also be sure that there are some things that we are not yet aware of. We need not worry about that. When God says it is time, just wade right in and go for it.
So many people hesitate to commit because they feel like it will cost them too much, or they are not worthy. There are lots of tactics that the enemy uses in his attempt to keep us from what God has planned for us. But we can’t let anything keep us from the prize of the high call of God is Christ Jesus.
Remember, right after Jesus cleared the temple miracles broke out. The blind and lame came to Him and they were healed. The same thing happens in our lives. There are always things that we are blind to, but the Lord will heal that when we press in closer to him. The closer we are to Him, the less things can hinder us; our lameness goes away. Once we are free and healed, we are able to free and heal others.
I think temple cleaning is one continuous process in the life of every believer. We no more than get one thing cleaned up and there is another thing that will open the door to the next realm of the glory of God. After all, we are being changed from glory to glory. Come boldly into the presence of God. Don’t let anything stop you.
