MULTIPLIED PEACE

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God... (2 Peter 1:2 NAS))

The Amplified Bible describes peace as perfect well being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts. Now that is what I want multiplied in my life!

Are you thinking this sounds nice but that it is not very likely? Well, you are right. If you doubt that it is possible, then it is not very likely that you will experience this kind of peace. However, just because we do not experience it, does not change the fact that this is exactly what God intends for us to have. Well if He wants us to have it then why does he allow so many things that are anything but peaceful?

Well, the other stuff happens. He said it would happen. He warned us to watch out for it and He told us how to handle it. We handle it through the knowledge of God. We handle it by getting understanding of the things that He has that are guaranteed to quench the fiery darts that attack our peace.

Through understanding God’s plan, we can experience a sense of perfect well being even when things are being far from perfect. Paul had a sense of perfect well being when the ship was sinking. Jesus has a sense of perfect well being when soldiers were attacking Him. Stephen had a sense of perfect well being as the stones were striking him. Compare that to what you may be experiencing and you should be encouraged that it is possible to have this sense of perfect well being no matter what.

When it seems only evil surrounds us, we can be confident that we have all necessary good at our disposal. The evil has no chance of overcoming the goodness of God. Let that goodness create peace for you.

Needless to say, we have all spiritual prosperity ready to work for us. Actually, spiritual prosperity works in us to bring about the perfect well being and awareness of the things God has placed on the table before us.

Through this, we experience freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts. These are things that rob us of so much peace and they are not outside problems but rather inside ones.

No matter where the attacks come from to steal our peace, God has provided a superabundant supply of His kind of peace to render those other things powerless. This peace is an offer from God. We should expect it to come upon us.
