MY EVERYTHING
These instructions are not empty words--they are your life! (Deuteronomy 32:47)
You are almighty. You are above all things. You are my everything! Mighty God. In spontaneous worship, this chorus was born at Hosanna. I am often reminded that God is my everything. When I am reminded, I wonder why I must be reminded!
Well, the truth is, sometimes I am looking at things like I need to figure them out all by myself and the Lord reminds me that He has the solutions so I may as well check with Him and save myself the trouble. God is so obvious and we are sometimes so oblivious to the simplicity of the truth.
For so many years, Moses led Israel, and here at the end of his life, He was still trying to get the truth across to them. The truth being, that God is their life. This is the same truth that is continually repeated to us as well.
If you are reading a bible plan, you may be in this same area, where the people are about to finally go into the promised land. We are also in the season that reminds us of the promises of God to save us.
Soon, we will celebrate the greatest love of all when Jesus gave His life for our sins. These are not empty words. They are our life!
This is a time for us to stop and consider whether this is true or not for us. This is a time when we can ask the Lord to search us and reveal our hearts to us. Is God my everything? Is Jesus my Lord?
God reminds me the day that I read for about two minutes about being born again. I put down the book and joked to my wife, saying, “if that is true, we are in big trouble!” Little did I know what was just ahead.
All of these years later, I am thankful that God is faithful to remind me of how He brought us out of the wilderness and continues to guide us through His promised land.
Nothing could be better than worshipping God. Nothing could be better than dwelling in the secret place of the Most High! Truly He is life.
He is all day, every day, all the way, THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE!
Last week we were reminded to be careful to love and to obey the Lord. Moses urged the people that they could make that choice, and they should make that choice.
Jesus reminds us that we can also make that choice. We can choose love and obey Him. If we have never asked Him to forgive us and come into our hearts, we have not yet lived. Answer His call to come to Him. Give Him your life today!
