MY WILL...HIS WILL

"I have found food you don't know about"...My nourishment comes from doing the will of God who sent me and from finishing His work." (John 4:32 & 34 NLT)

I love the way that God runs His truth throughout His wonderful Word. It is just more proof that God is and that He rewards those who seek Him. Only God could take so many different writers and put the same life through the words. But you all know that, so what am I talking about here.

We were recently talking about how the living water that Jesus offered the woman provided satisfaction that she never could have imagined. Then the Lord brought out the purpose of His presence from Isaiah chapter 61. The next day God took me back to Jesus words in John chapter 4. The greatest desire in our Lord’s heart was to do the will of His Father. This He said was nourishment that they could not understand at the time. When I read this I was ready to shout. Why? Well because. The only thing that really can give us satisfaction once we have been in His presence is doing His will.

We may try to find temporary fixes in other places, but there is just nothing like knowing that we have done what God has planned for us. He wants us to experience Him in all areas of our lives. He wants us to let His peace be our barometer. When it looks like we should have no problems and we still feel troubled, we need to seek Him. When His presence surrounds we need to do His will.

How do I know His will? This is a big question for all of us, but it is not nearly as difficult as we may try to make it. He promises us that if we will seek Him for wisdom He will not disappoint us. The key is seeking Him.

Often times we fail to acknowledge that we have not sought God in a particular area or circumstance. We think it is someone or something else that is causing us unrest. We think that it is up to God to tell us if He has something He wants us to do, and sometimes He will. But other times He waits for us to call.

Jesus did the will of His Father on that day even though it was completely out of character for a Jew to talk to a Samaritan. I think He saw her and God told Him to talk to her. As a result He saw her life completely transformed. The icing on the cake was that her whole village experienced the presence and the Word of God.

This is what Jesus called the real thing. This is also what God has for all who will seek Him. He guarantees that if we seek Him we will find Him and that being in His presence will empower us to do His will. When we do that, we have nourishment that is beyond any other nourishment in the world.
