It is really something to think that God considers us to be living proof that He is God. He declared that He would save us and He did. He also says that there was not a foreign god among them before He declares that they are His witnesses.

In the case of the nation of Israel, God did so many things to reveal Himself to them and to the nations around them that even when Israel seemed to forget God, everyone around them knew when God was present. Reading the Bible we all know how Israel would vow to serve God and then forget to keep the vow and then return to the Lord only to stray again later. Still God promised to save them and to send the Savior. We are proof that He is God because we have believed in His Son, Jesus Christ, and He has saved us.

We, like Israel, often forget that God alone is God and even in that we are witnesses that He is God as He forgives, delivers, and heals. Oh He is such an awesome God and so worthy of all of our praise.

We are witnesses that He is God in our love for Him and our love for one another. Of the early church they spoke of how they loved one another. Jesus commanded that we should love and prefer one another in love.

God sets an open door before us along with keys to the Kingdom that will unlock every door. Love is the oil that causes those locks to open freely. Without love no amount of synthetic oil will work.

Synthetic oil is manufactured oil imitating the things of the Spirit. Synthetic oil is pretending to do the things of God, saying all the right things and pretending to know God without true oil being anywhere to be found.

Ultimately, this too wears out as only the true oil of the Spirit can satisfy. God is so good that as soon as we return to Him seeking a fresh anointing from Him, He comes and pours out His Spirit upon us and restores us in order to bring glory to Himself.

He declares that He does what He does because of who He is. God is God all the time. He is consistent and totally trustworthy. His plan is that we prove that He can produce the same character in us. No matter where we are in life, we are witnesses that He is God. We make the choice of being a witness to His forgiveness and blessing or a witness that there is no life without God.

He who has the Son has life and is a witness to that life. He that has not the Son does not have life and is a witness to that. May God drain the synthetic oil out of our lives and anoint us all with the fresh oil of the Holy Spirit. We are called to be witnesses to the greatness of God.
