NAOH'S RESPONSE

So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him. (Genesis 6:22 NLT)

We are looking at responses, because God told Cain that that he would be accepted if he responded correctly, but Cain just never seemed to catch on. We have all had times where we did not get it just right either; fortunately God continues to work with us. Today we want to look at Noah’s response.

Reading the account in the NLT, we see that God was fed up with how wicked the people had become. He declared that he was going wipe them all out. (Vs. 7) But then we read that Noah found favor with God. We then find out that Noah was the only righteous man alive and that he maintained a good relationship with God. So had God forgotten Noah when He was deciding to wipe everyone out? Was Noah so close to God that when he heard God making His plans he spoke up and God made the new plan?

We do not know for sure, but we do know that God decided to spare Noah and his family! Since Noah was the only righteous man, God must have spared the rest for his sake. God then revealed His plans to Noah both for the destruction and for Noah’s escape. Needless to say, it would have been a lot easier for Noah if God had just picked his family up for a year and sat them back down when it was all over, but this was not God’s plan. God told Noah to build a huge boat. Well you know the story, or you can read it in Genesis. I want to focus on how Noah responded.

Noah did everything just as God commanded. Noah did not try to explain to God how hard it would be to acquire all the necessary materials. He did not complain about the cost or the work involved. He did not even raise any concerns over what the neighbors might say or ask God what he was supposed to tell his wife. How in the world did Noah fail to question the thing about the animals? Just think about it. Noah just did everything that God told him to do.

I believe that Noah was able to respond so correctly without question or doubt as a direct result of his great relationship with God. If indeed Noah had to intercede on his own behalf in order not to be destroyed, he was able to do it because he knew God so well. Things may not look so good for us at times, but if we have a good relationship with God, we will not hesitate to ask for a change rather than just saying, “oh well it must be Gods will to destroy me.”

When our relationship is strong with God, we don’t have to worry where we will get whatever it takes to do what God asks, nor will be worry about what others might say or think. Maintaining a close relationship with God will keep us in the know about what God is doing and how we are to be involved. Let’s hear it for Noah!
