NO BYSTANDERS
When you pray, say Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Luke 11:2 NKJ)
Today as I was praying, I knew that I was praying exactly according to God’s will. I knew He wanted the enemy bound and I knew He wanted to bring glory to Himself. With this in mind I told the Lord that I knew He could do all of these things without me saying a word. After all, He knows what I am going to pray before I pray and in fact He knows things that I need to pray that I know nothing about. The Holy Spirit will bring these things to mind as I allow Him to work in my life.
At this point, I understood that God does not want us to be bystanders in our life with Him. He wants us involved. It is important that we pray specifically and that we see Him answer specifically. If we are not involved, we also will not be that interested.
When we are simply bystanders, we are like a crowd waiting to see what will happen. We watch what goes on and then choose a side. It was bystanders who one day would shout, “Hosanna in the highest” and the next day shout, “Crucify Him.” Bystanders tend to go with the crowd until they lose interest and then go away.
That is why it is important for a Christian to get involved and stay involved. Even when it seems hard and things are not making sense, stay involved. Don’t allow the enemy to convince you to just wait and see.
Most of the time when people just wait and see they end up not liking the outcome. That is because it is like seeing a thief enter the house and waiting to see if he is really there to steal something before calling the police. God’s Word tells to call upon the Lord.
Jesus said, “When you pray, say!” Saying is getting involved. Saying is not just repeating words; saying is speaking those words with authority. Saying in Jesus terms is confidently declaring without any room for doubt or any intention of backing off.
When Jesus said, “Be healed,” He meant it. He was involved. He was not just saying it then waiting to see what would happen. He knew what would happen, because He was not a bystander in the Kingdom of God. He was involved and He still is.
Throughout His ministry and right up to the last words He said before going to heaven, He was commanding that His followers get involved. He demonstrated how things should be and then sent the disciples out to do it. In the end He told them that whoever believed should do the same things and even greater things!
The more we are involved; the more we will behold the glory of God. So lets determine in our hearts that we will not be bystanders drifting in and out. We will pray and we will say, and as a result, we will see!
