NO DISCLAIMER
I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me. (Ps. 16:8)
I love to sing prayers to the Lord. I seem to be more able to stay focused that way. One day as I was singing and giving thanks for the life He has given me and for His faithfulness, it hit me in a new way just how true His word is. The thought that came to me was that God is a proclaimer with no disclaimers. In other words, it is like He says it is! We do not have to worry about fine print or God trying to get out of what He says.
We are the ones that make promises and then for one reason or another we expect Him to understand if we don’t keep our vows. Believe me I did that for years and years. I made lots of promises asking God to get me out of this or that and then when the pressure was off, I seemed to forget my promise. God did not! Since I have come to know Him I do believe that all that I promised before I was saved and much more have become a great part of my life. This is not because God twisted my arm to make me keep my vows, but because He changed my life and those things are the natural thing to do now.
I no longer try to find a way to get out of what the Word of God requires of me. Now I spend time learning how I can better keep my part so that His part can flow freely into my life.
Someone once asked me if I regretted all that I gave up to serve the Lord. It was the strangest question anyone ever asked me. Even then I knew that I was the big winner in the deal and that I had given up nothing that was worth anything in comparison to what I was experiencing with Jesus as my Lord and savior. Now I know that I did not know the half of it back then and I still know very little in comparison to what there is still waiting to be discovered.
I think that has been a big problem for people who need the Lord. It has always been presented in such a way that people think it is going to cost them too much to follow Jesus. The truth is that the Kingdom of God is the best place a person can invest their life. God does not take away anything. He replaces death with life! Jesus told the disciples that no matter what they gave up they would receive a 100 times more in this lifetime and in the end, eternal life. Lots of Christians spend a lot of time disclaiming that promise. Why would we want to do that?
Very often, when people hear the simple truth, they think it is too simple. They think there must be a catch. They think that God must have a disclaimer in there somewhere. It is the devil that has the disclaimers and the lies. It is time that Christians began to treat God like He deserves to be treated. We need to take Him at His word and show the rest of the world that He is faithful. Don’t act like God is fickle and only keeps His word on a good day. Every day with God is good. Quit trying to find out why it can’t work and believe that it does. Jesus proclaimed it. It is finished!
