NO EXCEPTIONS
"But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit..." (Mark 4:20 NKJV)
It seems that right and wrong have always been a problem to people. Since the beginning of time, there have been those who wanted to make exceptions to the rules. God said don’t eat from that tree, and the serpent said that the only way to be complete was to eat from that tree. Adam and Eve decided to make an exception to God’s rule based on what someone else said and the results of that story are still being written.
Remember when you were learning to spell and they had spelling rules, but there were exceptions to the rules? It was those exceptions that always caused the most trouble. I have friends from other countries who have asked why we changed those things and I can only say that I do not know; I just try to follow the rules. In effect, that is what happens if the exception becomes the rule.
As Christians, we must be careful not to make exceptions to what God says in His Word. There have been many exceptions that actually became the rule for people who do not seek the Lord for themselves. Spelling is one thing, but to just willingly go along with a rule change in the things God says is crazy!
Our society is reeling in the throws of the attempts to make exceptions to the rule of God. God did not make the rules to hinder us; He made them so we could have the full life that He promised. Spelling rules were given to us so we could pass the tests. The rules of the Kingdom of God were given so that we would have access to His Kingdom.
So, if we are going to enjoy the promises of God, we are going to have to hear the Word and accept the Word with no exceptions. If God says love, we need to love; even our enemies. If He says forgive, that means forgive. No exceptions! Leave the vengeance and the judgment to Him. If He says give, then we give. There simply are not exceptions to what God says. If we make one exception, then we set ourselves up to make another and another.
Someone might say, “I believe in God, except I don’t believe the born again stuff.” There are many people who have been trapped into that deception. I am sure you could think of many other areas where there are people blatantly going against the Word of God thinking they are an exception to the rule.
Often times, people look at the example of the Berean’s as though they sat around dissecting the Word. They were not dissecting it, they were proving it. They put it to the test so to speak and found that it never failed. Remember, in God’s sight an exception is an exception and it can lead nowhere but deception. So, hear the Word and accept the Word. No exceptions.
