NO TRICKS

I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen. (Matthew 28:20 KJV)

Everyone can believe. If we will believe we find that there are no tricks to believing. There is no trickery in Jesus. What He says is true. If we will abide in Him we will dwell in His presence. He is always present with us, for He promises that He is with us. We can draw near to Him, which means we can also draw away from Him. However, He has promised to never leave us.

There was a time when they accused Jesus of using tricks and the power of the devil to do what He did, but they were lying. Jesus called them on it and when He did, it became even more obvious that His accusers were ones under the devil’s influence.

Yes, it is possible for us as believers to be tricked by the devil and influenced by those tricks. That is why Jesus warned to be on the lookout for the tricks the devil plays. If you find yourself drawing away, Jesus tells us simply to return to Him.

“If you abide in me,” Jesus said. The way to abide in Him is to be sure that His word abides in us. His word is alive and powerful and it is able to keep us. It is not a mind trick when you hear the Lord. It is not an imagination; it is the living word. He continually draws us near to Him.

Before we knew Him, He was drawing us. He has been calling us and preparing us for eternity with Him since before we were formed in the womb. We know it and we need only to enjoy His presence in our lives.

King David loved the Lord. He was a man after God’s own heart. When he strayed he felt like he was rotting from the inside. Even then he kept distant from the Lord until the prophet came and confronted him. Then he went to God and asked for a clean heart and a steadfast spirit and God granted his request. God did not say that He would think about it and get back to him. God was waiting for him to come. The same is true with Christ. There is no trick, no one gets a special deal; everyone has the same promise.

We all have a personal relationship with Him. We certainly must encourage one another to stay close to Him and we must share our testimonies. What one person has with the Lord is a special thing between them and the Lord. It is not a trick, but it may be a place for another person to start.

We can be certain that God has something special for us and with that in mind, we must go to Him with high expectations in anticipation of the promises He has made to us. It really is that simple. There is nothing that we have to figure out. He already has it all figured out and has presented it to us. We need only to present ourselves to Him and trust Him. How simple is that?
