NO WORD OF GOD WILL EVER FAIL
“For the word of God will never fail.” (Luke 1:37)
If we think the word of God has missed the mark, or if we do not like how His word is working, we need to hold on to the truth. His word never has and never will fail!
His word is full of examples of the impossible occurring. Just because it takes a few hundred or even a few thousand years to come to pass, is no reason to give up on what He says. In fact, it gives us even more incentive to keep our trust in Him.
The birth of Christ was promised long before it happened. Still, when it was time, two amazing and impossible miracles happened instantaneously. Mary, a young virgin and Elizabeth who was beyond the age of childbearing both became pregnant, according to the word of God!
Considering this, I wonder why the memory of these miracles faded away. Perhaps God hid them or like so many things that God does, they just lost their attraction. Still, it is hard to imagine that all the things that came about during that time lost their attraction to the minds of the folks.
Then again, some things do not change. I am sure that there are things that God has done in us and for us that have faded. He promised to save us. Oftentimes, the joy and excitement seems to fade. When this happens, the rejoicing fades and as the rejoicing fades, well it is sad.
Paul, by the Holy Spirit, addressed a solution when He said, “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
If we wonder where God is, or where the joy and peace are, they are probably locked away behind the door of dissipating trust. When things do not go the way we want them to, or as fast we want them too, we need to keep an eye on our trust meter. We need to check our enthusiasm level. Don’t let the devil steal your joy.
Sometimes, we need to crumble the grumble. We need to take charge of the things that are diluting and polluting our living water. I recently saw a reel of Nancy Dufresne. What I remember was her saying that what we pay attention to is what will have our attention. She of course was talking about healing and what I understood was that we pay more attention to what is wrong than we do to the one who heals…well, you get the picture.
As we look forward to the celebration of the birth of Christ, let us remember that it was not and is not a one-day deal. We can and should renew our zeal, our trust, our thrill with truth that not one word of God will ever fail. All of His promises are ours in Christ Jesus. Mary rejoiced. Elizabeth rejoiced. Joseph made the right choice. Zechariah made a great recovery from His doubt. Make this day a day that begins a daily renewing. Jesus is alive and well. Tell someone.
