OH THAT LOVE
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from His love. (Romans 8:38 NLT)
It is graduation season around the country, and that always causes me to think about all those years ago that I went through this same transition in life. This year as I consider it I have this overwhelming feeling of just how great God’s love is.
When I look back I am sad to say that God was not on my mind at all. I did not see Him as playing much of a role in my life. Honestly I probably only considered Him if I was in trouble. But that never stopped Him from loving me. He loved us before creation. It was not because we were an after thought that God made everything else before He made man. He wanted everything perfect for us before He made us. His love for us has motivated every good a perfect thing He has done or will ever do.
As it is every year there are many young people graduating who have no thought of God. Many of them have been raised in homes where there was too much going on to put any emphasis on God. There are others who may think their homes have had too much emphasis on God and they are ready to get away from it. And so they launch into the future thinking that they will do everything in their own strength. Still God loves them and does all that He can to open their eyes to see the One who has never forsaken or forgotten about them.
No matter where we go or what we do, God stands with arms open to welcome us into His family. He loves us so much and has arranged for everyone to be adopted. All we need to do is call.
Nothing can separate us from His love. When we die, He loves us even if we never loved Him. He weeps over those who die without Him. Our lives cannot stop his love for us. No matter what we do or say, He loves us. From the lowest to the highest, from the depths of prison to the top of society, there is nothing we can do that will separate from God’s love. Rich or poor God loves and desires us. Each one has the same opportunity of calling on His name.
Angels could not convince God to give up on us or quit loving us and neither can the devil. Our fears and doubts will not stop Him from loving us. We can ignore God, we can even tell Him to go away. We can even mock Him and still He will love and long for us to come to our senses.
There is just no way to get away from His. I know this for certain, because I did more than enough to give Him reason to write me off, but He never did. And looking back I can see so many times where He revealed His love and stepped in to protect me and guide me. I know that there are many more times that I am not aware of, and it just thrills me to know how nothing could stop Him from loving me.
It challenges me to love the same way and pray for all people everywhere, and especially for graduates, that they will come to know the great love that God has for them. God loves you. Did you know that? Of course you do. Take a moment and enjoy His love. Then tell someone else about it.
