ONE MORE

The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. John 10:10)

Do you ever wonder why we make it so difficult for the Lord to give us a rich and satisfying life? At the same time, we seem to make it easy for the thief to steal, kill, and destroy. All those years ago, when I read less than a page in a book about being born again and I recognized that if it was true, I was in trouble; it was easy to brush it off. Still, within six months I was born again. The battle was crazy and intense, and I did not even know it was going on.

The world is full of these individual battles for people’s souls. Every person matters to God and with Christ in us, every person matters to us as well. The more we know Him, the more we know this to be true.

I stopped at the piano yesterday and found myself praying a song for just one more. My heart was overflowing like never before with desire and awareness of just how important it is for us, as followers of Christ to desire to see people win the battle and come to Christ.

It is not right that we should know Him and His satisfying life and not spread the good news. The goodness of God should be on display in our lives. It takes more than a t-shirt, piece of jewelry, or a bumper sticker. We all know that people can wear and display those things with nothing in their heart. Jesus tells us to live in such a way that we keep Him on display.

Jesus revealed God with love, kindness, and generosity. He displayed God by declaring the truth. The truth may not always seem so loving or kind. I was not feeling very loved or caressed when I saw that I was in trouble. It did not sound so kind when Jesus explained to religious leaders that they were deceived by their father the devil, but it was true.

What are we willing to do in order to see one more come to know Jesus. Recently we discussed the need to be engaged in our walk with God. Part of that is a desire to share His goodness. Lord, give us eyes to see those who are deceived and being destroyed.

God give us the desire to see people satisfied by a touch from you. If Christ is in us, these desires exist, Lord help us not to resist the best things.

Honestly, I am certain that I walk right by people who could benefit from even the slightest revelation of God. I am sure I miss the clues in conversations with people. Lord, I do not want to do that! The one more that my heart longs for could be that one who I walk by.

We can think that it is not our business, it is. There really is nothing more satisfying than knowing that you planted a seed. It is joyous to hear that the seed sprouted and grew. It is great to have opportunities to water a seed that you or someone else may have planted. Never forget the importance of people knowing God. Many people are like I was. They are not even thinking about a relationship with God until a seed reminds them. There is one more waiting. Are we watching?
