ONLY TWO!
Except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun, you shall by no means enter the land which I swore I would make you dwell in.(Numbers 14:30)
Wow! Out of all those people who were twenty years old and above, only two were to be allowed to enter into the promised reward of God. Why was this? Hebrews chapter four tells us that is was because of unbelief. It was because they doubted the power and the ability of God to do what He promised. Again and again, we are reminded in scripture that we must go beyond a simple knowing that God exists, and enter into place of refusing to doubt anything that He says, and giving Him glory for every little or big thing that He does.
It is so important that we bring to remembrance the things that God does for us and the things that He has done for others. All the accounts we read in His Word were given as examples of what He is capable of. If we consider His Word carefully, we can find an example of deliverance, provision, healing, or protection that perfectly fits any and all of our personal needs. We need only to have confidence that God has not changed and that He still is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Those who will go where He leads and do what He says, no matter what it may look like and no matter what the cost.
If you have spent any time in church you have heard the account preached of the spies and the reports and the foolishness of the people in believing the report of man over the promise of God. You have heard of the different spirit that was on Caleb and Joshua, and you have been challenged to step up. If not by the speaker, then by the Holy spirit. The big question is, what have you done with that challenge.
The days of playing church are long past, unless of course you enjoy wandering in the wilderness, and wondering what all the hoopla is about. Joshua and Caleb looked at the promised land, and saw something that was greatly to be desired. They compared the desert they had been in, with these other things God promised them and said it was worth giving there lives for if necessary. The others saw what was in the land, and agreed that it was great, but entering would take more effort and risk than they were willing give.
They just could not understand, or they would not understand that God had it all taken care of. All they had to do was walk in and He would do the rest. Now we have that same opportunity every day of our lives. Jesus is the door to the promise of God for every situation, every circumstance, and every need in our lives. All we have to do is walk in.
It seems that some things just do not change. There are but a few who will go ahead with God. Others see it as too narrow a way. The broad way is more comfortable. And yet it is not comfortable. Israel was not comfortable in the wilderness. They even tried to get God to change His mind. We are not comfortable when we do not go on with God. We try to get Him to change His mind and do things our way, so that we will be more comfortable, but He has determined the way. He is the Way. If we accept this truth for every part of lives…then we will have life. Determine in your heart that you will be one of the few and pray that the few will become a multitude.
