OPEN REWARDS
...Thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly. (Mathew 6:18 KJV)
Does it bother you to think that God’s desire is to openly reward you? Do you expect God to openly reward you? There was a time when I felt that it was only right that I should expect nothing more from God than my ticket to heaven. If that were all He wanted me to have that would still be just fine. However I have come to understand that He has a lot more that He desires to do in my life and in the lives of all who will trust Him and believe what He has said.
Recently when the Lord spoke to me concerning the glad tidings of the gospel, it put a smile on my face that keeps coming back. No matter what is going on around me, when I consider the glad tidings of the Kingdom of God it just makes me happy. Jesus always brought good news. Even when He was telling them He would be crucified, He capped it with the good news that He would be back soon. He even pointed out that it would be a good thing for them, because then the Holy Spirit would come! Speaking of the Holy Spirit, are you glad He has residence in your life? Do you pray often in the Spirit and allow Him to guide your Life?
Last night the Lord sparked a truth in my heart that not only put that smile on my face, but an overwhelming love and peace accompanied it. I was watching a program on television and the people were in a limousine pulling up to a private jet that would take them somewhere on a date. In other words, it was a very expensive date! It suddenly hit me that being able to do that would in no way compare to the joy I can get just thinking about the Lord.
No matter how much money a person has or how many things they can do, nothing compares to the presence of God. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with all the other things. I am not saying that I would not enjoy those things myself. I just may have them some day! I am simply saying that those things are just things. There is no way that I would choose them over what I have with God.
I used to want more than anything in the world to be a performer in Las Vegas. Then the Lord came into my life and I found pleasure that was beyond that, just thinking about Him. He is real and with me now. He is more than just a dream. It was rather unsettling at first. I think that last night God cleared that all up for me.
After that, all I could do was imagine different things that I desire or that others desire and then measure them with the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. Every time, there was just no comparison. In fact, it seemed that with each thing, God increased my joy and my sense of contentment. And this morning it continues to increase. Give yourself a test. See if there is anything that compares with Him and His rewards. Remember, He can and will make all things better. He brings real and ever lasting joy. May He greatly reward you, and may He always be above what ever you have.
