OUR HOPE IS IN YOU ALONE
Let the godly sing with joy to the Lord, for it is fitting to praise Him. Let Your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.(Psalm 33:1&22NLT)
This whole psalm is a beautiful opportunity to Praise God. That is what praise is you know. It is an opportunity and a privilege that we should take advantage of constantly. The psalm tells us to praise. It is complete with suggestions of how to praise, and then gives us good reason why we should. Just look at it.
We are told to sing joyfully to the Lord because it is fitting to praise Him. Yes, it is fitting to praise God everywhere, all the time. Praise Him with melodies. Praise Him with stringed instruments. Sing Him new songs. Why new songs? Because new songs are songs from our hearts. This is not to say that old familiar songs are not heart felt, but new songs are personal melodies and messages to the Lord. And of course sing them with joy.
Why should we praise Him. One very important reason is that His word holds true. Every thing God does is worthy of our trust. We can trust God to keep His word. Wow, this should produce joyous praise every time we consider His great promises to us. His love fills the earth, after all!
Just think, He merely spoke and the heavens were created. We praise people for a lot less, I mean a lot less. He is more powerful that the waves of the sea. He is the one who set the boundaries for the oceans. Just think about that. When He spoke the world began, it appeared at His command. That pretty much ends the debate over how the world came to be. It did not begin before He spoke and it did not hesitate a moment once He spoke. What more reason do we need to praise God?
The psalm also reminds us that our own strength will not save us. But the Lord watches over those who fear Him, those who rely on His unfailing love. Oh yes we can rely on Him. How nice it is to know that He spreads His wings over us. He protects us. He provides for our health, our well being and all that it encompasses.
Oh the benefits of declaring that our hope is in Him alone. Yes we should certainly praise Him joyfully, in every way we can, with all our hearts. The reasons are plain to see. Meditate on this Psalm for a bit and you will most certainly have praise rising up in your spirit.
