There is certainly an abundance of different groups of believers in this world who identify themselves as Christians. And among those groups there is much disagreement as to what is the proper theology. I do not now, nor do I ever again desire to argue about man’s idea of what God considers to be most acceptable. I have been caught in that trap from time to time, and absolutely nothing is accomplished that glorifies God while it is going on. Disagreeing on things that probably none of us have perfected, best serves the devil’s interest in my opinion, so I want to find something that will serve us all best.

In my seeking of this, the word overcome kept coming to my mind. This of course reminded me of the fact that we overcome the world(1John 5) and that our faith is what does it for us. Also in revelation a promise is made to those who overcome. There is only one time in which we have the opportunity to be overcomers, and that is now, in this life time. This is the group who will hear those most wonderful words, “Well done my good and faithful servant. Enter thou in to the joy of the Lord. If someone else wants to go in as passing through fire, that is there business, but as for me and my house, I want us to inherit all things. My house includes my immediately family, and my church family. Because of this, I will press toward the mark and will do whatever I can to press others toward it as well.

There are a lot of things promised in our inheritance. There are some who want the best parts of it, some who just want to go to heaven someday, and some who still have not figured out the importance of any of it. Understand, that I am speaking of believers here. Unbelievers do not know anything about any of it, and sadly enough their future lies in the hands of many believers who have no clue. Remember, God uses us to spread the truth.

Some just want to have their little religious time. They want God to do what ever He will for them, as long as it does not interfere with what they prefer. Others want the good times, without too much of a commitment. Some want the power, but no problems or persecution. I think you get the picture. At times we have all fit into one or all of these molds. If we want to be overcomers, then we are going to have to get into God’s mold.

If we will step into this, we will find that God makes it all great. We could never know the joy of being delivered, if we are never in a place where we need it. With no trial there is no victory. With nothing to overcome, we could never be overcomers! Please don’t go and start praying for problems so you can overcome. That is not idea either.

The idea is that we make a determination that we are going all the way with God, no matter what. We want the whole inheritance. Kind of like you may inherit a mansion, but the yard will still need mowing. There will be a price in following so closely, but the benefits are far greater. Don’t wait for the sweet by and by, be an overcomer now in this life time, and the keys to the Kingdom are yours. Don’t sit back, press in. Don’t relax, rest in Him.
