PASS IT OVER
Casting all your care on Him, for He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7 NKJ)
“You got this?” I was imagining that this might be what Jesus said a lot when He was talking to His Father, especially as He headed into the city for last time. It is something that we need to learn to do as well. We need to pass over to God what is God’s to handle.
When God told the folks to paint their door posts with blood and eat the sacrificial lamb, it was so that the death angel would pass over. Now God tells us to partake of His Son, our sacrificial lamb. Through Christ, we pass over our cares to God because He cares for us.
If we won’t pass them over, then we do not believe He meant what He said! Really it is just that simple. I know, I know, it may be simple but it is not all that easy! I agree. We may have to pass it over a multitude of times before it stays put, but just keep passing.
We know that Jesus kept passing it. Even after asking God if there was another way, He passed it one more time. Then, for the joy that was set before Him, He endured the cross. When we pass it over, we need to begin to imagine the joy that is in the solution.
If something is troubling us so much, we sure can imagine how good it will feel when it is all over. Think on these things! The best way to think on the good things is to quit thinking on those other things.
Jesus hung the cross thinking about the folks who hurt Him. He was thinking about his disciples and the care of His mother. He was thinking about the look on their faces when He would come to them in a few days.
And I believe He was thinking about His Father’s promise! “I got this.” “You can do it because I am with you.” Jesus was convinced that God was able to do what He promised. When we are convinced of that, passing it over is a whole lot easier.
You know whenever we pass it over, and allow God to do what God promises we give God an opportunity to pay the devil back for what He did to Jesus. No wonder God says the vengeance is His. He enjoys crushing the devil under our feet in Jesus name.
For the majority of us, our troubles do not compare to what Jesus went through. Paul spoke of all that he went through and reminded the folks they had not yet bled and died. I do not know why God does not just stop everything and fix it right now. I know He will one day. I know He tells us to ask and to pray. Knowing that He hears and He cares encourages me to pass it over. Stop thinking about it and expect God to do what He has promised. Think about Jesus. Think about the price He paid. Think about the plans He made. Think about what He did and where He went and stayed. Think about the prayers He prayed.
