PASSION FOR GOD

O Lord, I will praise you with all my heart and tell everyone about the marvelous things you do. I will be glad, yes, filled with joy because of you. I will sing your praises O Lord… (Psalm 9:1-2 TLB)

God’s love for us has secured us an overwhelming victory for us (Romans 8:37). That truly is something to be passionate about! God’s word is full of great news which is for our benefit, for the building of our faith.

If we know God, we know all of His promises are true and that will do what He has promised. At the same time, we may be frequently confused about timing, circumstances, and even other people.

Sometimes we are so sure we have things figured out and other times we wonder if we know anything at all. We can be flying one day and totally discourage and let down the next. This is why God tells us that in all circumstances we have an overwhelming victory in Christ! Our victory is not in outcomes; rather, it is in our focus on Jesus who loved us enough to die for us.

The bible tells us that love covers a multitude of sins; love also covers confusion and disappointment. In order for anything to get finished, we really need to maintain our passion for it. Granted, we all have things that we are more passionate about than others. We may be more passionate about the paycheck than we are about the job, but one desire keeps the other going.

Even this simple example can help us to see why passion for God is a force that can and will see us through all things.

Just like God promises that if we will seek Him first, we will see all the things that seem to stand in our way simply added to us. All those other things that seem so important and in need of attention that attempt to keep us from God, are really things that God has prepared to take care of for us.

When we first glimpse this it does not make a lot of sense, but if we will allow passion for God to push aside our doubts he will prove Himself faithful. Suddenly we will find ourselves overwhelmed by His promises and still wondering how He does what He does. Yes, God does leave us wondering at times, but it is an amazing wonder!

Yes Lord, I will praise you with all my heart. I will praise you when I understand and will praise when I do not understand. I will see marvelous things and I will tell everyone. I will not allow my passion for you to be extinguished no matter what may be happening. Because of this I will see overwhelming victory because you say it is true. Oh come let us praise His name together!
